How to check whether a supplier is registered for GST

An ABN and GST registration are separate. A supplier can hold an active ABN without being registered for GST, and registration can start or end on a given date. The register records the GST effective dates.

Check one supplier

Enter the ABN in ClearABN's free single checker. It shows whether GST registration is current and the date it took effect, alongside the ABN status and entity name.

Check a whole supplier list

Upload a Xero, MYOB or QuickBooks contacts export. Every row with no current GST registration is flagged, so you can compare it against how the supplier invoices you.

Register facts, not advice

Whether a GST credit can be claimed depends on more than the register. ClearABN shows what the register says and links to the ATO's pages; it does not provide tax advice.
